Empathy maps serve as invaluable tools in understanding user segments by delineating fundamental attributes, behaviors, needs, and aspirations. However, the manual creation of empathy maps can still be subject to similar limitations, such as incomplete information and biases.
This paper explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the process of empathy map creation to mitigate these challenges. By leveraging AI technologies, particularly OpenAI’s tuned models, it is possible to analyze vast datasets to provide deeper demographic insights, identify diverse user perspectives, and generate empathy map. Based on a real-world experiments, this paper demonstrates how AI-augmented empathy maps can offer richer and more representative depictions of user segments. By combining human expertise with AI capabilities, we can expedite the creation process while ensuring that the resulting empathy maps are more aligned with the true needs and characteristics of the target audience. This innovative approach holds significant promise for enhancing user-centered design processes and ultimately improving the quality of products and services.
